Basketball video annotation guide
Use player identity and evidence across frames to understand occlusion, events and review.

What to learn and do
Establish identity and the time interval before labeling actions. Record visible appearance, numbers and motion continuity across frames; proximity proves neither contact nor identity by itself.
Original teaching example
Original scenario: two players in similar uniforms cross and one is occluded. “Still on the left” does not establish identity; compare numbers and motion around the crossing.
Counterexample and correction
Counterexample: always reusing the leftmost player’s ID after occlusion. Correction: review surrounding evidence and preserve intervals that cannot be linked reliably.
When evidence is uncertain
If numbers are unreadable and continuity breaks, record uncertain identity rather than inventing a complete track.
Next step
Explain in your own words which judgment is supported and which remains uncertain, then continue to practice. Practice requires registration or sign-in. Reading this introduction is not course completion, assessment success or professional certification.
